Would you like
Volunteer at the 'Everest Childrens Home Nepal'?
Why Volunteer in Nepal?
Nepal is a beautiful country with an unmatchable landscape. The people
are friendly and welcoming and have a rich and vibrant culture. Unfortunately, Nepal is one of the poorest
countries in the world. Many of its people are in need of assistance. 24 percent of the population are living
on less than US$1 per day and 41 percent of the population is undernourished.

Children in Nepal are particularly vulnerable. Annually more than
12,000 women and children are trafficked to India to work as domestic workers and in brothels. There are
reports of over 40,000 child labourers and thousands of Orphans in Nepal. Many these children are living and
working in dangerous situations and deprived of their most basic human rights.
Nepal is the perfect setting for volunteering. A small amount of time
and money can go a long way towards protecting and providing for an orphan child. The Everest Children’s Home
is an affordable option where you can rest assured your volunteering fees go directly towards providing a
nutritious diet, education, shelter and care for twelve needy children.
What will I be doing during my volunteer program?
What you do during your time at the Everest Children's Home is really
up to you. We have had volunteers who spent time building a chicken coop, fixing bathrooms, working in the
garden, helping the children with English and Maths homework and others who preferred to spend their time
playing with the children. We can create a program based on your interests. You do not need special skills to
volunteer with us. The children at Everest Children’s Home are in of need love and attention more then
anything.

What will I be doing during my time
off?
Six days a week the children attend school.
Volunteers are free to spend their time during school hours enjoying the many interesting attractions Pokhara has
to offer. We can help you to arrange a variety of tourist activities, such as:
 |
Elephant Safari in Chitwan National Park |
 |
Paragliding from Sarangkot |
 |
Trekking |
 |
Boating on Fewa Lake |
 |
Visits to the Peace pagoda, Bat Cave, Tibetan refugee camp, local monasteries,
temples and museums |
 |

 |
White water rafting |
 |
Bike Riding |
 |
Motorcycle riding |
What do the program fees
cover?
For many volunteers, arrival at Kathmandu airport can be a culture
shock. We will arrange for you to be picked up at the airport and taken to a hotel. If you are leaving Nepal
at the end of your program we will organise airport drop off.
We will organise two nights accommodation in Kathmandu on your arrival
and departure. During your time in Pokhara you have the option of staying in a room at the Eco-Traveler's
Lodge or in your own room at the Everest Children's Home.
Transport to and from Kathmandu at the beginning and end of the
volunteer period will be arranged via bus.

While volunteering in Pokhara you will be provided with two meals a
day. We try our best to provide delicious and nutritious meals for our volunteers although, note that meals
will be simple Nepalese vegetarian meals. Please budget accordingly if you do not wish to eat vegetarian
cuisine for the duration of your program. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the
home.
We are on site to provide you with 24 hr support and
assistance.
Once your food,
accommodation and travel cost have been covered any remaining fees are used to pay for the children's education,
housing, clothing, and food.

What are the costs?
We are aware cost can be a guiding factor when selecting a volunteer
program. We try to keep the fees associated with volunteering to a minimum while still providing a quality
experience.
